Nuestra Señora de Atocha (1622)
A silver cup comes from the wreck of the 1622 galleon Nuestra Señora de Atocha. With its footed design, it might be called a goblet. The body of the cup is mounted on and soldered to the base, with four rib-like supports further joining the two at each quarter. It is encircled with two thicker, angled bands, which would have improved the user’s hold on the piece. Multiple, engraved lines further encircle the body, most prominently near the rim. The foot is bent, but the overall height was approximately 9 centimeters. At the rim, the diameter is 7.2 centimeters. Rendering relatively thin pieces like this in 3D is difficult; the interior of the cup was not fully documented, which helped to provide a better view of the exterior.
